Systems Analyst; ASU ITS; Boone, NC; February 2010 - Current

Administered several Linux based servers.  Duties included developing, deploying and maintaining existing web, email and database systems.  Also developed new tools and software for other administrators to use.  Software administered included Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4-6, CentOS 4-6, Apache 2.x, MySQL 4.x-5.x, OpenVZ, postfix, sendmail and MailScanner. 

PC/Mac Technician; Technology Support Services; Boone NC; September 2003 - February 2010

Visited dorm rooms to address software and networking issues, over the phone technical support, and working out issues with faculty, staff, and student machines in the lab. Developed simple applications for office use, set up and administered office servers and desktop computers. Worked with other consultants in other academic departments setting up computer labs.  The department received Apple Customer Service Excellence awards during my employment. 

System Administrator; ASU Physics Department; Boone NC; August 2007 - May 2008

Developed and maintained a Linux and a Mac based SSH and FTP server for the Computational Physics classes to use for developing and submitting their programming assignments.  Initially wrote a simple shell script for students to submit assignments.  During my time there it evolved into a more elaborate system including checks for fraudulent submissions. 

Research Intern; ASU Physics Department; Boone NC; May 2007 - August 2007

Worked jointly with another student and a professor observing binary asteroids. Used the 16” telescope at the Rankin Science Observatory, the 32” at the Dark Sky Observatory and the Skynet remote telescope system. Reduced the data to obtain light curves for the binary systems to help better improve computational models. 

Intro Lab TA; ASU Physics Department; Boone, NC; September 2005 - May 2006

Worked with students in the in introductory lab, including observing on small Meade telescopes. Assisted with the set-up and take-down on the labs as well. 

Technology Assistant; ASU ResLife; Boone, NC; May 2006 - September 2006

Worked in the Residence Life office maintaining department website and office computers. Worked with the phpWebSite content management system. Some experience with installing and removing phpWebSite modules.

Mac Specialist; Apple Computer, Inc; Durham NC, May 2005 - September 2006 

Worked in Apple retail helping assess customers needs for technology, and advise them accordingly. Worked with the Theater Team developing and teaching seminars geared toward entry level Macintosh computer users and advanced Macintosh users. Also did some basic troubleshooting of customer machines.
